I hiked up the Canyon Trail on Badger Mountain this morning hoping to get above the fog. As I got closer to the top, I saw the sun through the fog and was hoping for clear skies to see across the Columbia Basin. As I reached the yellow “hikers only” sign, I looked around quickly and saw the top of Rattlesnake Mountain peaking out of the fog and the plume from the Columbia Generating Station Nuclear Plant’s cooling towers. I thought I’d get some good pictures but the fog suddenly started rolling in.
I got this shot of myself and waited for awhile, hoping for more clearing but I had to start back down. It was still a great hike. Even though I was worried about sore muscles from a 50-mile bicycle ride yesterday, I was within a minute of my normal time to the top. I also got to see the beautiful frost on the trailside plants.
