I started my interest in his hike/walk when I started seeing UGT signs painted on the trails around town and on top of signposts.
After a little research, I discovered more about this trail, you can get the details, maps, directions and more pictures here on the hikes page for the Urban Greenbelt Trail.
I can get on this 3.25 mile trail just a few blocks from my home so I followed the map from the city’s website and had a nice, somewhat leisurely bike ride along the UGT.
It is a part of the revitalization of the Central Business District of Richland. It goes along the Columbia River through Howard Amon Park, then through some “hidden waterway” areas of town where I saw some ducks in the creek and I’m sure the birdlife is plentiful in the right season.
This is a fairly short, walkable path that is paved all the way. You do have to cross a few streets but there are some secluded areas and it is a nice break if you want a walk on your lunch hour or free time.
