I can’t believe I haven’t been on Badger Mountain since the Badger Mountain Challenge! I am almost embarrassed by this!
I’ve been busy with college classes, going on lots of bicycle rides, recovering from shoulder surgery. Yes, I have lots of excuses but I just need to make time for myself and my family and get out on more hikes! I was fortunate to have my son along and I took this sequence of pictures that I stitched together to make a panorama. We hiked up the Canyon Trail. I was hoping to get in on the tail-end of Mariposa Lilly blooms but there were none. I felt blessed to be able to see some piper’s daisy blooms (very scant).
There were also a few blooms on some sagebrush that added some color.
There are also some remnants of Carey’s Balsamroot turning to their dormant stage until next spring with some pretty yellows and greens as the leaves turn to brown.
But most of the vivid colors are gone for the summer, especially with the 100 degree plus temperatures expected in the next few days.
What’s left are the beautiful desert browns, tans and earthy tones that make our area so special.
A great time to get out and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us!
