My sister and I got a chance to wander through the Chamna Natural Preserve. I thought it would be interesting to see the high water from the spring runoff.
Turns out, the water is a little too high right now. We had a great hike, even though there was an on and off drizzle, but we couldn’t get out to the river, except by the parking area.
The wild roses are blooming all over.
The damp spring has made for a lush green carpet in many areas of the preserve. The old-growth sagebrush has fresh foliage that is thick.
As you stop and listen, you’ll hear numerous birds calling including the Red-Wing Blackbird.
We tried several of the trails to get to the river, but they all ended up covered with water in the low-lying areas.
It was still a beautiful hike with all the greenery and we also spotted beautiful orange wildflowers,
if you know their identity, please jot me a note below.
The good thing about hiking this time of year is, no snakes, no mosquitoes (though I’m sure they’ll be thick very soon), and the temperatures aren’t too hot.
I think your dot com is amazing. I’m so proud of the hard work and effort you make to be healthy, while also helping other tricitians appreciate the “beauty that surrounds us” Keep up the wonderful work. It’s awesome!
