Hundreds of boys, aged 7-10, converged on Horn Rapids Park to learn good moral lessons and how to enjoy the great outdoors.
This was the annual Cub-Scout Day Camp. Dozens of volunteer organizers put in hundreds of hours of time preparing for the event. The boys rotated between different stations throughout the week.
They covered activities like wood burning, outdoor cooking, maps & compasses, archery, bb guns, citizenship & government and, of course HIKING!
The Cub Scouts also got to go on a hike along the trails at the park. Volunteer leaders worked gathering hundreds of hiking poles for the boys.
Each boy also got a camp t-shirt and cool straw cowboy hat. I found a nice swallowtail butterfly that was willing to let me take a picture!
Thanks to all the volunteers and parents who helped make this possible. I was the camp nurse for a couple of days and bandaged a few minor cuts and burns but otherwise it was a fun week for over 200 Cub Scouts.
