I’d heard of it before but I never ventured out to the Audubon trail until the other day, I was pleasantly surprised
See maps and directions here on the Hikes page link.
I first noticed how well used the trail is. It was mid-day and hot out and I saw several people enjoying this hidden resource.
I walked the entire tri-loop trail (see the hike link for a trail map). I was thinking how nice this trail is because it is completely paved so wheelchairs and strollers can access this scenery too. The small pond looked kind of mucky but it is busy with bird sounds and wildlife.I ventured off the paved trail to some dirt trails that go to the edge of the pond only to be startled by the ducks who were flapping to get away from me!As I was walking, I was a little startled as a man without his shirt on came up to me and told me there was a deer in the thicket ahead. Sure enough, he was enjoying some peace and quiet but he wouldn’t stay still long enough for a picture. I guess I just have the picture in my mind as I remember this pleasant walk through Columbia Park!
At least I got a picture of these beautiful flowers along the trail.
