Along with hiking, I love to swim and the beautiful Columbia River is a great place to take a refreshing dip!
I usually swim as a form of exercise. My friend Scott and I swim together from the Lee Boulevard dock, upriver to the boat launch dock and then back downstream.
The upstream part isn’t usually as difficult as it sounds. We run into a little back current part way upstream and it helps us a bit. It is a great workout though. I wear silicone ear plugs and I can hear the blood pumping as my heart rate increases.
This Labor Day morning was a beautiful day to swim. We were out fairly early so not many boats out yet.
The geese kept an eye on us.
The water was brisk but not too cold. The water temperature is about 64 degrees.
Just a little diversion from hiking but another great example of the beauty that surrounds us here in the Columbia Basin.
