Yeah, its a little chilly out there but a brisk, purposeful hike can work up some heat pretty quickly and help you survive the chilly temperatures.
I decided to hit the Canyon Trail on Badger Mountain this morning. I was hoping for a view of the sunrise but the fog was too thick. I did get a beautiful view of the frost on the desert flora. Up to the top in about 22 minutes (about average for me). I saw no one else on the way up, three people on my way back down. That’s another nice thing about hiking in this kind of weather, the traffic is pretty light.
Cool weather hiking is nice because you can always bundle up more and shed layers as you work up some body heat.
On the way back down, a hiker climbing up asked if I saw the coyote scampering up the hill. I didn’t, I was too busy looking around grown level at these beautiful frost formatins on the plant life.
He and I did flush out a group of Chukar from the side of the trail.
It was a beautiful day for a hike and I enjoyed the time on Badger Mountain.
