I haven’t been to the Chamna Natural Preserve in a few months so I decided to take a mountain bike ride in the late afternoon. It’s less than a mile from my home so I really have no excuses!
It was a great ride, I started at the east end of the preserve near the railroad bridge and followed the trail through the preserve. I headed out on one old road that followed along the riverbank and scared one poor woman who was walking her dogs (sorry). A good reason to warn people you are approaching from behind! I got into the good, winding trails through the overgrowth. It reminded me what a great riding area this is with single-track galore.
I saw one other bicyclist on the trails but it was otherwise pretty quiet. I ran into a little mud but the trails were otherwise great; hard packed and clear of heavy vegetation. This bush was still holding on to some of it’s fruit.
I did come across some downed branches from heavy winds but they were easy to get around. It was a nice ride, about 5 miles around Chamna.
