As I was looking around for new hikes, I came across this one on the Tapteal Greenway Association’s web site, The Tapteal Bend area. Click here for map, directions and more details on this hike
I got to the site and parked and got out my camera. I was excited because I saw the Yakima River bordering the area and knew I would see some beautiful birds and vistas.
I gravitated to the river and birds fluttered away immediately as I startled them and they startled me!
I walked along the riverbank trail. It winds through some overgrowth and canopy trees.
It is a dormant time of year so there isn’t much color but the birds love hanging out in the river.

I kept scaring up birds along the walk. I tried to be stealthy but I was no match for their sixth sense.
I picked up some hitchhikers along the walk and had a good time scoping out a new area for hiketricities.com.
