If you need a reason to hike Badger Mountain, besides getting fit, this is about the best reason I know of:
The rains of the past few weeks have brought greenery on the slopes of Badger Mountain and with the spring green comes blossoms of a wide variety of flowers. I took these pictures as I was climbing up the Canyon Trail but you can find the flowers on the Skyline Trail and the Sagebrush Trail. In addition to the as-yet unidentified flower above, today, I spotted Purse’s Milk Vetch, Phlox, Rosy Balsamroot and Carey’s Balsamroot. Over the next several months, there will be a revolving variety of blooms along the trails of Badger Mountain and around the Columbia Basin. Get out and enjoy.

The colorful flowers are so beautiful and they can’t help but lift your spirits and make you smile.
