There’s a great place in town for dog owners who like to let their canines run free. With leashes required on Badger Mountain, most other area hiking areas and parks, the “Paws Abilities” dog park is an open area where dogs can get some serious exercise.
- Directions to the City of Richland Off-Leash Dog Park: From Keene Road, go east to Gage Boulevard, go east on Gage and turn north on Leslie. From Leslie, go to Canyon Drive and turn west. Go to Englewood and turn left. Follow Englewood up the hill, keep going straight until it turns to gravel, go through the gateway to the gravel parking area and you’re there. Located in the shadow of Badger Mountain on the edge of Badger Mountain Community Park is a couple of acres fenced in created especially for dogs and their owners. The no-leash dog park has a separate area for smaller dogs. There are several rules including cleaning up after your pet but leashes are not required.
The fenced areas are wide open and grassed.
The Paws-abilities park is part of the City of Richland park system. You can click here for the city’s official site. There is a gravel parking area and garbages for waste material. The dog park is made possible, in part, by support from the Tri-City Dog Park Society.
