If you’d like to increase the intensity of your workout from hiking or walking around the Columbia Basin, there are plenty of opportunities. You can check out the Three Rivers Road Runners site here for more events. The most recent was the Righteous Richland sprint triathlon last weekend. Nearly 200 people braved the 61 degree river water and the 12 mile bike course and 3 mile run to stake their claim as finishers! Way to go!
This is known as a sprint triathlon so the length is not too intimidating. Participants started at Howard Amon Park and swam downstream a half mile to the transition area.
Many racers came running out of the water. Some looked a little more winded than others. They hurried across the grass to the transition area where their bikes were waiting. They dried a little and donned their helmets for the 12 mile bike ride including an off-road segment through the Chamna Natural Preserve.
Participants returned to the park and got on the path down to Columbia Point and back to the finish. Congratulations to all participants and finishers! You help motivate us to improve our fitness.
