Thunder boomed as would be swimmers stood knee-high in the Columbia River today, awaiting the starting signal for the Righteous Richland Sprint Triathlon. The thunder and ominous clouds coupled with a threatening weather report was enough for race organizer Eric Graegor to cancel the swimming leg of the triathlon.
Three Rivers Road Runners sponsored the event which had an estimated 200 participants. The orange-capped racers seemed disappointed about the swim cancellation but a modified bicycle start still had an air of excitement as cyclists mounted for their ride to Chamna and back.
While a triathlon may not be for everyone, just getting outside and enjoying the Columbia Basin beauty is a great way to get fit, stay fit, or get fitter (are those all words?). Get out and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us!
