Even though the heat, sun and progress of the summer season has sent most of the plants and wildflowers into dormancy, there is still some color along the area’s trails.
The late season colors of rabbitbrush are all over the Columbia Basin. It starts with gold flowers and green foliage then progresses to a totally green plant. I still love the tans, greys, browns and earthy colors but a spot of green every so often is welcome.
These are very hardy plants as they thrive even in the 100 degree weather! What an example of perseverance!
