I actually got the idea that I needed to add this hike to hiketricities.com a couple of weeks ago when I was at an Eagle Scout court of honor. I realized one of the Eagle Scout candidates had put up signs for this hiking area as his Eagle Scout service project.

I was up early for a Badger Mountain sunrise hike when I realized I would have time to do this hike, too, before I returned home before my family woke up! I was so glad I finally took this hike!
This isn’t your typical rustic hike, the 1.5 mile round-trip hike is all on a nicely paved pathway. It is great for joggers, strollers, or wheelchairs.
My favorite feature of the hike was seeing the plethora of birdlife. I’m no bird aficionado but I recognized red-winged blackbirds and mallards but I’m at a loss as to the name of this stunningly beautiful yellow-crested bird.
There were several of them among the cat tails. I would appreciate a note in the form below if you can help with this bird’s identity.
This is a great, in-town hike that still provides a sense of seclusion. It is a great hike for people of all experience levels.
