Editorial:
The question about how clean “green” energy alternatives such as Wind Turbines and Solar panels is brought into question by some deeper dives into the creation and the life cycle of these so called “green” energy alternatives.
We could go really deep on these topics. If that is your flavor, then check out this podcast called the Wright Report.
One example is the fact that wind turbines require fossil fuel to operate. They require oil as lubrication. An estimate of 100 gallons which is changed out regularly is needed to keep these windmills working. Additional fossil fuels are used for processes to make the required raw materials like carbon fiber, fiberglass, and various metals. The wind turbines are also famous for oil leaks which drip oil around the base of the behemoth structures. There are even larger problems with reported oil spills from the wind turbines like the one which apparently happened in one of the most beautiful areas of our country, the Columbia River Gorge along the southern Washington, Northern Oregon border. As I drove through this area recently, I was reminded of the thousands of wind turbines along this area by the massive array of red lights blinking in unison along the previously unscarred landscape.
The issue appears to go much deeper and the rationale we’re being fed seems to be confusing. Is “clean, green, renewable” just a marketing ploy? Are we actually being fed Dirty Green Energy hogwash? Something to think about.
