What a wonderful hike this morning up Johnson Butte! I got up early and walked up the trail past the green wheat fields. This is the first time I’ve hiked Johnson Butte. Thanks to Dan for the great idea. I’ll have this up with directions and details and more on the hikes page within a few days!
Before I knew it, I was surrounded by butterflies! It seemed like they were keeping me company. It was glorious! They were all of the same type and I am hoping some of you can help me identify them (maybe they’re a moth of some sort). They have black and orange markings, some are a little paler in coloring.
I have seen these same butterflies on other hikes, especially on Little Badger Mountain but it appears they are only out for a limited time each year. It was great to have some “friends” along for my hike. If you’d like to catch a glimpse of them you’d better get out there soon as they will soon be gone again until next year.
