Aaron Ellig from the Tri-cities is almost done with his 5-month journey on a thru-hike on the Pacific Crest Trail. Ellig started on the Mexico/California border and headed north from there with Canada as his goal. Ellig has seen everything from nude hikers to bears. He also experienced some of the California wildfires from an amazingly close vantage point. Make sure to check back often for the conclusion of Ellig’s journey and we hope to get him for an interview on the Hike Healthy Podcast when he returns home!

Richland man reaches Washington on Through-hike
How it all began
Ellig started his epic trek on April 19. He has seen amazing sights and had some interesting experiences. Total mileage for the thru-hike is ~2650 miles. He recently hiked between Steven’s Pass and Rainy Pass. Ellig is relishing in the recent beautiful weather. He reports the section through Washington is his favorite of the whole 2600+ mile hike, although he says this is some of the most difficult terrain.
Ellig reported his hike from Snoqualmie Pass to White Pass was quite moist but the weather has been cooperating more recently.
Ellig has a blog documenting his trip:
